Bede Wind enjoyed a superb joint concert with Delta Concert Band of Vancouver last night at Trinity Church, Gosforth.
Bede played a range of traditional Northumbrian music alongside standards like the Luftwaffe March in the first half, and Delta added a highly entertaining mix of Canadian pieces along with the odd Italian tune after the interval!
The bands joined to play two final pieces – Vaughan Williams’ An English Folk Song Suite led by Bede’s conductor Ernest Young and the Suite on Canadian Folk Songs by Morley Calvert, led by Delta’s Director of Music Jim Tempest – with nearly 70 players on stage.
Having already played in Lincolnshire and Manchester prior to their visit to the North East, Delta take their UK tour across the border to Scotland now.
